Carlton Mills Primary School Values

At Carlton Mills Primary School, we believe that every child should feel happy, safe and inspired to achieve their very best. Our school vision is built around our Carlton 5 Values, which help children grow into kind, respectful and successful individuals both in school and in the wider community.

Our Carlton 5 Values:

Compassion

We encourage our children to show kindness, care and understanding towards others. Compassion means helping friends when they are upset, including everyone in games and showing empathy to people around us. We teach children to think about how others feel and to make positive choices that support and encourage one another.

Courtesy

Courtesy means using good manners, being respectful and treating others politely. At Carlton Mills, we promote respectful behaviour through simple acts such as saying “please” and “thank you,” listening carefully to others and showing respect to adults, classmates and visitors.

Creativity

We inspire children to use their imagination, explore new ideas and express themselves confidently. Creativity is celebrated across all areas of learning, whether through art, music, writing, problem-solving or thinking of innovative ways to overcome challenges.

Collaboration

Working together is an important part of learning. Collaboration teaches our pupils how to cooperate, share ideas and support one another to achieve a common goal. Through group work, discussions and teamwork, children learn the value of helping each other succeed.

Confidence

We aim to develop confident learners who believe in themselves and are proud of their achievements. Confidence helps children to try new things, share their ideas, persevere when learning is difficult and become independent learners ready for the future.

Celebrating the Carlton 5 Values

At Carlton Mills Primary School, we are proud to celebrate our Carlton 5 Values every week during our Friday Celebration Assemblies.

During the assembly, teachers choose children who have demonstrated one or more of our school values throughout the week. These children are recognised for their positive attitudes, excellent behaviour and the way they contribute to our school community.

Children who are selected receive a special certificate in front of their peers, staff and families. This celebration helps pupils feel proud of their achievements and encourages everyone to continue showing compassion, courtesy, creativity, collaboration and confidence every day.

Our Friday Celebration Assemblies are an important part of school life and help us promote a positive, supportive and inclusive environment where every child can shine.

Hey there, couldn’t help noticing you’re using Internet Explorer

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.

If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
