Excellence for all

Welcome to Carlton Mills

Mrs McDonald Head of School

Welcome to Carlton Mills Primary!

Carlton Mills is a proud Ofsted 2023 rated Good primary school with an Outstanding Early Years Foundation Stage. We have also achieved significant recognition, winning the TES Early Years Setting of the Year, the T&A Primary School of the Year 2024, and being shortlisted as a Silver Winner for the Pearson’s EYFS Team of the Year. Additionally, we are officially a World Class School, collaborating with experts from Carlton Academy Trust.

At Carlton Mills Primary, we take immense pride in our Trust and school ethos of ‘Excellence for All’ and our commitment to developing the whole child. We celebrate our diverse community and ensure all children understand equality and respect among protected characteristics, equipping them to succeed within their community, modern Britain, and beyond.

We serve a vibrant, diverse community in the Manningham and Toller area of Bradford. Our parents and carers are highly involved with the school community and are regularly welcomed to be part of their child’s learning journey through coffee mornings, parent/carer classes, and Fabulous Finish events.

Our new curriculum is inspirational and follows our ‘Real People, Real Places, Real Learning’ agenda, aiming to raise cultural capital for our children, bring learning to life, and elevate aspirations. We ensure connections to local community businesses and facilities to guarantee that our curriculum is broad, balanced, and that our children have high aspirations within and beyond their society.

Our ambitious curriculum is coherently sequenced to meet all pupils’ needs and starting points, focusing on developing aspirations for the future.

The School Council, Carlton Care Club, and Junior Fitness Team play prominent roles at Carlton Mills, strengthening pupil voice, peer support, and encouraging active lifestyles. Carlton Mills is a happy school striving to ensure all children have the best possible start to their one chance at education.

The Carlton 5 values underpin our learning, culture, and expectations:

  • Compassion: We use compassion to motivate pupils and adults to help relieve the physical, mental, or emotional pains of others and themselves.
  • Courtesy: We use courtesy to encourage polite behavior, ensuring that polite actions or remarks positively impact the mental health and well-being of others.
  • Creativity: We encourage pupils and adults to use creativity to believe in themselves, raise aspirations, and eradicate glass ceilings.
  • Collaboration: We use collaboration to promote working together with inclusivity and equality.
  • Confidence: We encourage pupils and adults to have confidence and belief in themselves within a safe learning environment where it is okay to make mistakes, grow, and learn.

We warmly welcome visits to our wonderful school so that you can experience the warm and happy culture we have created for pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

Kind regards

Mrs McDonald
