Excellence for all

Welcome to Carlton Mills

Mrs McDonald Head of School

Welcome to Carlton Mills Primary!

Carlton Mills is an Ofsted 2023 rated Good primary school with an Outstanding Early Years Foundation Stage. We are also officially a World Class School working with experts from Carlton Academy Trust. At Carlton Mills Primary we pride ourselves on our Trust and school ethos of ‘Excellence for All’ and our commitment to developing the whole child. We celebrate our diverse community and ensure all children have an understanding of equality and respect amongst protected characteristics, equipping them to succeed within the community in which they live, modern Britain and beyond. We serve a wonderful, diverse community in the Manningham area of Bradford. Our parents and carers are highly involved with the school community and are welcomed in regularly  to be part of their child’s learning journey through coffee mornings, parent/carer classes and Fabulous Finish events. Our new curriculum is inspirational and follows our ‘Real People, Real Places, Real Learning’ agenda to raise the cultural capital for our children, bring learning to life and elevate aspirations. We ensure links to the local community/businesses and facilities to ensure that our curriculum is broad and balanced and guarantees that our children have high aspirations within and beyond the society in which they live.

We ensure that our ambitious curriculum is coherently sequenced to meet all pupils’ needs, starting points and focusses on developing aspirations for the future.

Our School Council, Carlton Care Club and Junior Fitness Team have a prominent role at Carlton Mills and strengthen pupil voice, peer support and encourage active lifestyles. Carlton Mills is happy school striving to ensure all children have the best possible start to their one chance at an education.

The Carlton 5 values underpin learning, culture and expectations:

Compassion-We use compassion to motivate pupils and adults to help to relieve the physical, mental, or emotional pains of others and themselves.

Courtesy- We use courtesy to encourage polite behaviour and also ensure that polite actions or remarks can impact positively on the mental health and well-being of others.

Creativity- We encourage pupils and adults to use creativity to ensure that they use their imaginations, believe in themselves, raise aspirations and eradicate glass ceilings.

Collaboration-We use collaboration to encourage working together with inclusivity and equality.

Confidence- We encourage pupils and adults to have confidence and belief in themselves within a safe learning environment where it is ok to make mistakes, grow and learn.

We welcome visits to our wonderful school so that you can experience the warm and happy culture we have created for pupils, staff and parents/carers.
